Firelands Electric awards $10,000 in scholarships each spring to outstanding high school seniors who reside in a home served by Firelands Electric Cooperative.
The students are selected in an application and interview process. Scholarships awarded by Firelands Electric include a first place scholarship of $1,500; second place of 1,250; third place of $1,000; fourth place of $750; and fifth place of $500 for both boys and girls.
The young man and young woman chosen to receive the top two Firelands awards are then
eligible to compete in the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives (OREC) statewide competition
for additional scholarships.
Firelands Electric would like to emphasize that knowledge of the booklet "Cooperatives-The Competitive Difference" many times becomes the determining factor in the selection of scholarship winners. A test will is given on the information found in this booklet.
Firelands Electric requires qualifying applicants to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. If you have any questions or need additional materials, Contact Us for more information.
The 2011 scholarship materials and forms will be available in December 2010, which can be opened with Acrobat Reader.
