Applications for 2020 are now closed! 2021 scholarships will be available in November.
In 2020, Firelands Electric Cooperative will award $10,600 in scholarships to 12 outstanding high school seniors residing in a home served by the co-op. Students will be selected in an application and interview process, and scholarships will be awarded to six boys and six girls.
Awards in each group include a first place scholarship of $1,500; second place of $1,250; third place of $1,000; fourth place of $750; and fifth place of $500. One student in each division will also be chosen to receive a $300 Judges’ Choice Scholarship. The young man or woman chosen as Firelands' top overall applicant is also eligible to compete for an additional scholarship, in Columbus on in April.
What are the entry requirements?
Applicants must be a graduating high school senior who live in a home receiving its electric power from Firelands Electric Cooperative. Qualifying applicants must also have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates are evaluated on their scholastic record, personal achievement, leadership, school and community activities, and cooperative knowledge. Finalists will also be required to participate in an interview at the Firelands Electric office on Monday, February 17, 2020.
