If you have a standby generator for emergencies, it is a National Electrical Code requirement that you also have an appropriate "double throw" transfer switch installed. This protects you, your family, your home, and the cooperative's linemen.
Firelands Electric Cooperative offers a simple, safe, and reasonably priced device which allows you to connect a generator to your home's electrical system at the electric meter. The GenerLink makes it easy to connect your portable generator and supply standby power to any circuit in your home. The device is a meter collar that is installed by Firelands' technicians behind your electric meter. You simply plug one end of a power cable into the Generlink and plug the other end into your generator.
GenerLink devices may only be purchased from Firelands Electric by cooperative members. A 12-month, interest-free payment plan is available and installation at the home's electric meter is FREE. GenerLink devices are available in the following sizes and cord lengths:
