Payment Options

​Firelands Electric Co-op has many convenient options for paying your electric bill. Payments can be mailed, paid at the office or deposited in our 24-hour drive-up lock box. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and electronic check and you can also make your payment over the phone to a consumer service representative 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1-800-533-8658.

Automatic Bank Draft - If you’d like to save time, checks and postage each month, you may want to consider Automatic Bank Draft. This service enables you to have your Firelands Electric payment to be automatically deducted from your checking or credit card account each month. You save postage costs, time, and your money stays in the bank account until the 14th day of each month.

Budget Billing Plan - This free service makes managing your cash flow easier by providing predictable monthly payments. Utility bills are generally highest during the coldest winter months and hottest summer months, but budget billing avoids these highs by creating a consistent monthly payment based on your previous 12 months of electric use. Because of this, members do need to have at least 12 months of residency listed in their name at their current address to enroll. Billing accounts must also be paid current to enroll. Budget payments are due on or before the 14th of each month. Failure to do so will result in the member losing the privilege of being in the program. 

The cooperative has a “catch-up” month each August, when any credit or balance due on your account for the budget year ending Aug. 1 is reflected on that month’s bill. Our consumer services representatives will review your budget account quarterly so a larger than normal catch-up figure can be avoided.

SmartHub Account Access - Firelands’ SmartHub Account system puts the power of data in our members hands, by providing detailed usage and billing history that includes bill comparisons with weather trends. The setup process for new users is simple and all you need is your account number. Firelands Electric also offers a convenient mobile application that allows members to access their electric account and energy use information through Android and Apple mobile devices. Firelands' free SmartHub App is easy to navigate and gives members the ability to report power outages and receive important notifications directly to their mobile device. SmartHub Pay Now Access - For those members who just want to view and pay their account, without having to create an online account, Firelands’ SmartHub PayNow access is an easy bill payment system that does NOT require any online registration. SmartHub PayNow can be accessed using a billing account number and last name/business name to access the account online.

Third-Party Payment Websites - WARNING: Please be aware that third-party payment websites, such as, are NOT affiliated in any way with Firelands Electric Cooperative. These sites may use the co-op's logo and information, but payments made through them are not guaranteed, and often involve added charges. Payments made through such sites may not arrive on time, may not be applied to your account properly, and could result in late fees or disconnections. Please do not use third-party sites when making a payment to the cooperative. If paying online, use the cooperative's SmartHub website or the SmartHub app – which are always free.
