Cooperative Youth Day

APPLICATIONS FOR THIS TRIP ARE NOW CLOSED. SELECTED PARTICIPANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY SEPT. 30.

Firelands Electric will be selecting up to 12 high school students to join us for a FREE, all-day chartered bus trip to the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

Ohio StatehouseThis trip is a wonderful opportunity to explore Ohio's government, history, and politics! Students will tour the Statehouse, meet with legislators, visit the Ohio Statehouse Museum, and have time to check out the nearby Ohio History Center. Lunch will be provided at the Statehouse. Breakfast items, snacks, and drinks will be available for students on the bus ride to and from Columbus.

To be eligible, students must live in a home receiving its electric power from Firelands Electric and be in grades 9-12 during the 2024-25 school year.

Our short online APPLICATION (see bottom of page) only takes a few minutes to complete and must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, September 20.

* To be eligible, students must live in a home receiving its electric power from Firelands Electric and be in grades 9-12 during the 2024-25 school year.

* If selected to participate, you will be responsible for working with your school to arrange for the day off. Letters of acceptance will be mailed and emailed to students to share with school administration.

* Participants will be required to turn in the provided permission slip completed by a parent/guardian by October 11.

* Students will be responsible for arranging transportation to and from Firelands Electric Cooperative, 103 Industrial Drive, New London.

* Departure time will be promptly at 8:30 am and anticipated return time is approximately 6:30 pm.

* The cooperative will provide each participant with drinks, breakfast items, lunch, and snacks. Students are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks, if they so wish.

* Participants must where appropriate attire, including the provided t-shirt and nametag. Please, no sweatpants or clothing with holes.

* Trip participants may be photographed and/or recorded and that these images may be used in future print and digital communications by Firelands Electric Cooperative and/or the other participating cooperatives.
