In order to encourage children of employees and trustees to further their education and give them an opportunity to develop promising careers, Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives (OEC) offers the Louise Freeland Children of Employees Scholarship. Up to four $3,000 scholarships and four $1,200 scholarships will be awarded to outstanding students whose parent or guardian is an employee or trustee of one of the 25 electric cooperatives in Ohio, OEC, or an affiliated organization (Buckeye Power, RESCO, etc.).
What are the entry requirements?
Applicants must be a graduating high school senior, whose parents or legal guardian are an employee or trustee of Firelands Electric Cooperative or other Ohio electric co-op. Applicants must have a "B" average or better, and candidates are evaluated on their scholastic record, personal achievement, leadership, school and community activities, and cooperative knowledge. Qualifying applicants will participate in a personal interview at the OEC offices in Columbus.
